So finally FEAR 2 is out!! Im really happy about having shipped my first game. Although its a bit gruesome and out of my usual style, im really pleased about the quality of the game. Working with some amazing people can be very inspiring and sometimes intimidating but the trick is to learn as much as you can from them at all times.
The mood and ambience of the game is fantastic and if you are a fan of horror, you should absolutely give this game a try. Though i advise its not for the weak of stomach! I had a ton of fun working on the severing and gibbing of in-game characters and although it was a bit cruel at times, you end up disconecting from it in a visual way and it just becomes polygons and textures and all of the sudden you find yourself pushing it a bit more and more till you end up with the magic of flying corpses in slowmo.
Thanks so much for all the people that worked so hard on this and to the fans of Monolith, expect to see some AWESOME stuff in the years to come!! Cheers!!
Reading a blog i venture to frequently, i encountered a post by the author that really caught my attention.
Apparently there is a bill called the "Orphaned Works Act" that should it pass to congress "the burdon of prove of copyright will shift from the creator of content to the searcher".
This means, anyone could take any image, be it artwork, personal picture, and use it on a business card, public add, or anything you can think of and say they attempted to contact you.
"Commercial archives will be able to harvest these newly-created “orphans,” alter them slightly to make them “derivative works” and register them as their own copyrighted property. Freelancers would then be forced to compete against their own lost art – and that of their colleagues - for the new commissions they need to make a living."
I will now proceed to add watermarks to my images, which I find degrading.. but i guess thats what we get. Thanks to Addam Ford for the heads up (and the explanation)!!.

For no real reason i decided to google my name and encountered this article. It was a short interview they did back in Ecuador last year. I thought i'd just add it to the blog as a link for posterity haha. It always feels awkward to read stuff like this, as flattering as it may be. Link to 'El Universo' article.
This is the First pass at the final. More than a few shots need tweaking and soundtrack needs a lot of work (this is just a temp). But for now, its the 'final' submission for DigiPen. Hope you like it!
So, i've been working on the Climber a bit. Textures are still in the works and i made a Material that emulates a rim light at all times. The project is starting to look quite nice. At the top is a render of the Character (with no lights whatsoever) on a pseudo sky (to look at colors) and at the botom a turn around of the updated climber. At this point I have done much more on the backpack and the hat, and there's still a bit more to come, but we should start rendering sometime next week. Hopefully I'll be able to post the entire short.. shortly..
So, this is a test i made for the people at ArenaNet. I asked if it was ok to post it, since i wasnt sure, and they gave me the ok .. so here it is! Concept was provided by them, the model has 2201 polygons, 3 texture maps (Diffuse, Normal, Specular) at 1024x1024 and done in a lapse of 6 days (i got 8 plus 2 extra because i lost my work on the 5th day due to a corrupted file!!)
Anyhow, i hope its of your liking. First pick is a flat render (no lighting) second is a volume render (single light source) then a wireframe and a mudbox screen capture. I had to keep the subdivitions low due to ram limitations, but it turned out ok imo.
This is a bust i did for a Mudbox demo at school. Started from looking for a random picture on the internet (google: old black asian lady (?)) and just went with it. Total time (+-)4 hours with cleanup. You can have a better look at it on the 3d Galery
Its my second attempt at wrinkles, and was pretty satisfied with it. I find 3d sculpting much more "tangible" than 2d =P. Gotto keep trying.
Since the beginning of this year, and inspired by Andrew Jones' work from the Revelations Workshop in Seattle, i've been trying to figure out how to paint portraits in photoshop. I attempted to do a portrait a week but after a couple of failed attempts i decided i wanted to take more time (3 weeks) to sit down and really try to figure out what happens with colours and flesh.
This is my latest attempt at it. I got some really good help/ feedback by some friends to think about when i'm painting, i hope i don't just forget, haha.
We have a group we paint 1 portrait a week and we try to keep eachother up to date, but i decided to take my time with this one. I'll try to keep working the same way and posting some work here.
So this is the main character of the short we are working on at school. The name of the project is "PeAk".
The climber design was done by Sirio Brozzi and the model/ texture/ rigging by me. This was fun because i had control over the design and he had control over the modeling so we both had to respond to eac hother. Tough but very interesting! We both allowed for artistic licence, but the main stuff was a joint effort that ended up quite nicely. The character is still in the last stages, but we started animating already. Hopefully it will be done by late march/ april.
So this is the final design for the Creature. Sirio did the final version of this drawing and Andrew did the modeling/ texturing for it while i worked on the rig.
Hello there! I will continue to post stuff more frequently now! So, i've decided with some friends to start a "one portrait per Week" thing, with the condition that we all need to submit whatever we have (since we are very busy indeed) but just as a way of incentivating ourselves to work on drawing. So this is my first attempt at a Self-portrait in Photoshop. Around 2:30 hours in work. Hope i get better results next time. I'll try to continue working on it for a bit.
So finally i decided to stick with a page design!, Welcome to the blog! Please feel free to comment on anything you want, Criticism and feedback are always welcome.
So for this first post i'll just send an image of a work in progress. Its a design I've been working out with some friends for a school project, sort of a flying creature. Its a very rough sketch, but you get the idea. Further development is handeled by Sirio Brozzi.
