F.E.A.R. 2 Completed and out!!

So finally FEAR 2 is out!! Im really happy about having shipped my first game. Although its a bit gruesome and out of my usual style, im really pleased about the quality of the game. Working with some amazing people can be very inspiring and sometimes intimidating but the trick is to learn as much as you can from them at all times.

The mood and ambience of the game is fantastic and if you are a fan of horror, you should absolutely give this game a try. Though i advise its not for the weak of stomach! I had a ton of fun working on the severing and gibbing of in-game characters and although it was a bit cruel at times, you end up disconecting from it in a visual way and it just becomes polygons and textures and all of the sudden you find yourself pushing it a bit more and more till you end up with the magic of flying corpses in slowmo.

Thanks so much for all the people that worked so hard on this and to the fans of Monolith, expect to see some AWESOME stuff in the years to come!! Cheers!!

CLimber Update

So, i've been working on the Climber a bit. Textures are still in the works and i made a Material that emulates a rim light at all times. The project is starting to look quite nice. At the top is a render of the Character (with no lights whatsoever) on a pseudo sky (to look at colors) and at the botom a turn around of the updated climber. At this point I have done much more on the backpack and the hat, and there's still a bit more to come, but we should start rendering sometime next week. Hopefully I'll be able to post the entire short.. shortly..

ArenaNet Test.

So, this is a test i made for the people at ArenaNet. I asked if it was ok to post it, since i wasnt sure, and they gave me the ok .. so here it is!
Concept was provided by them, the model has 2201 polygons, 3 texture maps (Diffuse, Normal, Specular) at 1024x1024 and done in a lapse of 6 days (i got 8 plus 2 extra because i lost my work on the 5th day due to a corrupted file!!)

Anyhow, i hope its of your liking. First pick is a flat render (no lighting) second is a volume render (single light source) then a wireframe and a mudbox screen capture. I had to keep the subdivitions low due to ram limitations, but it turned out ok imo.

Old lady Bust

This is a bust i did for a Mudbox demo at school. Started from looking for a random picture on the internet (google: old black asian lady (?)) and just went with it. Total time (+-)4 hours with cleanup. You can have a better look at it on the 3d Galery

Its my second attempt at wrinkles, and was pretty satisfied with it. I find 3d sculpting much more "tangible" than 2d =P. Gotto keep trying.

Climber

So this is the main character of the short we are working on at school. The name of the project is "PeAk".

The climber design was done by Sirio Brozzi and the model/ texture/ rigging by me. This was fun because i had control over the design and he had control over the modeling so we both had to respond to eac hother. Tough but very interesting! We both allowed for artistic licence, but the main stuff was a joint effort that ended up quite nicely. The character is still in the last stages, but we started animating already. Hopefully it will be done by late march/ april.
