F.E.A.R. 2 Completed and out!!

So finally FEAR 2 is out!! Im really happy about having shipped my first game. Although its a bit gruesome and out of my usual style, im really pleased about the quality of the game. Working with some amazing people can be very inspiring and sometimes intimidating but the trick is to learn as much as you can from them at all times.

The mood and ambience of the game is fantastic and if you are a fan of horror, you should absolutely give this game a try. Though i advise its not for the weak of stomach! I had a ton of fun working on the severing and gibbing of in-game characters and although it was a bit cruel at times, you end up disconecting from it in a visual way and it just becomes polygons and textures and all of the sudden you find yourself pushing it a bit more and more till you end up with the magic of flying corpses in slowmo.

Thanks so much for all the people that worked so hard on this and to the fans of Monolith, expect to see some AWESOME stuff in the years to come!! Cheers!!

Use Protection..

Reading a blog i venture to frequently, i encountered a post by the author that really caught my attention.

Apparently there is a bill called the "Orphaned Works Act" that should it pass to congress "the burdon of prove of copyright will shift from the creator of content to the searcher".

This means, anyone could take any image, be it artwork, personal picture, and use it on a business card, public add, or anything you can think of and say they attempted to contact you.

"Commercial archives will be able to harvest these newly-created “orphans,” alter them slightly to make them “derivative works” and register them as their own copyrighted property. Freelancers would then be forced to compete against their own lost art – and that of their colleagues - for the new commissions they need to make a living."

I will now proceed to add watermarks to my images, which I find degrading.. but i guess thats what we get. Thanks to Addam Ford for the heads up (and the explanation)!!.

Old Article

For no real reason i decided to google my name and encountered this article. It was a short interview they did back in Ecuador last year. I thought i'd just add it to the blog as a link for posterity haha. It always feels awkward to read stuff like this, as flattering as it may be.

Link to 'El Universo' article.
